Reaching and Teaching Hurting Students

Ministry Track: Children's Ministries

Childhood trauma - from tragic loss to divorcing parents - affects the brain in ways that can make it difficult for students to control their minds, bodies, and emotions. They tend to get in trouble and struggle in school, but it doesn’t have to be that way at church. In this workshop, we will learn how to recognize the impact of trauma in the learning environment, utilize teaching time as a unique opportunity for ministry, and integrate teaching strategies that reduce behavior problems, increase engagement, and give struggling kids and teens a chance to succeed.
